Andy - Architecture and Technical Management Consultant

Andy is an architecture and technical management consultant who joined Taos in August 2008 and has over 10 years of technology experience. Andy's key strengths are in cloud computing, software development management and data center optimization.

During his tenure at Taos, Andy has engaged with such clients as nVidia and Livescribe. While on assignment at nVidia, he coached and trained 5 people with no prior project management experience into becoming very competent project managers for the global data center deployment project (3 data centers worldwide). At Livescribe, he designed an infrastructure architecture to scale up (20X), to support cloud providers like Amazon and to reduce company costs.

Before joining Taos, Andy's experience included working at Google in Search Quality (Search R&D) and as a technical program manager. As a technical program manager, he was responsible for site reliability engineering; he ran all of Google's data centers and production infrastructure and tore down, built and deployed technologies in the data centers. Andy was also a Software Engineering Manager at OnWafer Technologies (acquired by KLA-Tencor). Andy has his MBA from UC Davis with a concentration in finance and is the co-founder of Greenlight Organic.

Jason - Architecture and Technical Management Consultant

Jason is an architecture and technical management consultant who first joined Taos in 1993 before returning again in 2007. He has over 20 years of technology experience with specific expertise in startup IT implementations, re-designs, application integrations, firewall/DMZ designs and governance.

During his tenure with Taos, Jason has engaged with SGI and NetApp. Jason has planned and managed staff for delivery of a multi-million dollar next generation sales CRM infrastructure on time and on budget, along with other various complex application infrastructures. His broad technical background, attention to detail and business solutions perspective has allowed him to transition into the role of infrastructure architect.

Before joining Taos, Jason worked at Sun, Auspex, SGI, Cisco and a technology startup along with engagements at Intel, Synopsys and Aspect. As Director, Support and IT of the technology startup, Jason established support policy, implemented tools and managed staff to ensure 7x24x365 support of internal and external customers. In his role as Manager, Service Design at Cisco, he managed staff responsible for service design engineering and program management of new product introductions to Cisco's global support organization. Jason attended the University of California at Berkeley.

Phil - Architecture and Technical Management Consultant

Phil is a seasoned architecture and technical management consultant who joined Taos in 2006. Phil has impacted the IT landscapes and organizations of some of the largest web based companies and computer software corporations in the Valley.

During his tenure at Taos, Phil has engaged with such clients as Safeway and Electronic Arts. At Safeway.com, Phil led and managed a highly innovative information technology organization where he effectively utilized and collaborated with employee talent, technologies, and best practices to deliver the first phase of Safeway.com's infrastructure deployment project. Prior to this, Phil led an end-to-end applications performance project at Electronic Arts where he was able to frame and organize the overall program. The evaluation resulted in an application usage recommendation that included the design of a high level project plan.

Before joining Taos, Phil worked as a Director of IT Infrastructure at Symantec, an Architect for an IT eBusiness and a Web Services Infrastructure Manager at Clorox.

Architecture, PM & TM - Project Management

Dave - Project Management Consultant & Practice Leader

Dave is a project management consultant who joined Taos in May 2009 and has 15 years of technology experience and 20 years of project management experience. Dave specializes in national deployments and infrastructure deployments and decommissions.

While on an engagement with Taos, Dave worked on a software release project encapsulating 18 different applications. It took 6 weeks of testing before it was released out to the world. Dave was responsible for the GCS's piece of that project, and he interfaced with the Software Release Project Manager to ensure they were in synch. While working on a firewall infrastructure project, Dave migrated 21 applications and associated hosts to make sure they were in PCI compliance

Before joining Taos, Dave worked at CompuCom with Adobe, HP and Cisco and at Honda, Gallo Wineries, Sonoma Dev. Center, state agencies such as the San Diego Sheriff's Dept. and Starbucks. Dave's past experience includes conducting audits at 1200 locations for Honda. Also, when Excite@home went out of business, he pulled out 7,000 servers and 18,000 devices at 66 locations and saved the company $100M in recovered assets through bankruptcy documentation and tracking.

Mark - Senior Project Management Consultant

Mark is a senior Program/Project Management consultant who joined Taos in 2008 and has 15 years of experience working in technology companies. Mark has a proven track record of IT infrastructure project management and has specialized in data center strategy, capacity planning, design and build. Mark’s portfolio now includes engineering lab design/build and programs to optimize capital equipment utilization and improve lab operating efficiencies through shared device enabling technologies, automation, remote management and energy efficient design methodologies.

Mark's Taos engagements have been with Hitachi Data Systems, Redback Networks, Entrisphere, TandbergTV, Silver Spring Networks, ArcSight and Ericsson. His accomplishment highlights include stabilizing failing data centers, implementing long-term data center strategies, and migrating over 15,000 sq.ft. of data centers and over 100,000 sq. ft. of engineering labs to facilities where he was responsible for the design/build and layout of the new locations.

Before joining Taos, Mark worked at Nortel as an IT Project Manager and at Clarify as an Internal Support Manager. In his Nortel role he was the program manger who oversaw the technology deployment in a new campus. While at Clarify, Mark implemented their Help Desk.

Architecture, PM & TM - Technical Management

Anatoli - Technical Management Consultant

Anatoli is a technical management consultant who joined Taos in June 2008 and has over 15 years of technology experience. Anatoli is CCNA certified with strong people skills and has experience with Windows and SAN and NAS design.

While on engagement with NetApp, Anatoli has contributed as a build team lead to deliver a solution for the BI department. The solution helped decrease storage consumption greatly.

Before joining Taos, Anatoli had had prior consulting experience with companies such as Cisco, Sun and a startup. He worked at Cadence as a Sr. Network Engineer where he designed and developed V CAD and enabled collaboration between Cadence clients. As security was a paramount concern, Anatoli created a secure environment to allow Cadence to work on design. This project is still maintained today and has become a major success. Anatoli was also at a small company called Takumi as an IT Manager. He was responsible for IT, VON, security, account management and interconnectivity between offices.

Brad

Brad - Technical Management Consultant

Brad is a senior UNIX, networking and technical management consultant who joined Taos in October 2008 and has over 20 years of technology experience. Brad is especially knowledgeable in the areas of visual documentation, routing, network infrastructure and Windows Exchange.

While at Taos, Brad has been engaged with Juniper where he documented their network in a novel way. It provided visibility not only to those working within IT, but also to those outside of IT who rely on the network. He also helped streamline processes by adding clarity and making them repeatable. Brad plans on sharing his unique and effective documentation method with other Taos consultants at Taos’ weekly Office Hours session.

Before joining Taos, Brad worked at Neoforma, a healthcare marketplace, where he managed all of their corporate IT and provided data center management. Brad also handled the corporate IT at Carrier IQ. Brad’s background as an IT generalist has helped him gain strong technical management and networking skills and the ability to quickly assess broken corporate IT environments and to provide the solutions to get them back up and running.

Larry - Technical Management Consultant

Larry is a senior UNIX consultant who joined Taos in 2006 and has over 20 years of technology experience. Larry is especially knowledgeable in the areas of application integration in UNIX, multi-platform storage implementation and enterprise system administration.

At Taos, Larry has engaged with Mercury Interactive, Hitachi Data Systems and NetApp. While on engagement with Mercury Interactive, Larry was an enterprise NetBackup administrator who conducted vaulting. At Hitachi, he performed HBA certifications with Solaris, Linux and Hitachi storage products in the certification lab. He provided technical program management for enterprise financial applications at NetApp.

Before joining Taos, Larry worked at Schlumberger Test Systems as a Systems Programmer and at Valisys as a UNIX and Linux Administrator. During his tenure at 3D CAD, he designed software installation packages and provided integration and installation in the field. At Sprint Paranet, Larry was a Technical Solutions consultant who provided system integrations, colo moves, infrastructure builds for CA Power Exchange and VCS design.
