Base Compensation
Of course Taos offers competitive base salaries to all of our staff, but there’s more! Used to working extra hours, but only getting paid for 40? Not at Taos – read on!
Extra Pay
Don’t think you get paid extra for overtime because you are in an exempt position? Well at Taos you do. We follow state and federal rules for non-exempt employees of course, but exempt employees receive extra pay benefits too. Our extra pay plan compensates salaried consulting staff at a premium rate of 113% of base salary for every hour of billing over 80 in a two-week pay period!
Pay for Taos Projects
You can also earn extra pay by participating in Practice Community Projects such as conducting technical interviews, creating best practices, mentoring junior members of your practice, and creating and delivering trainings or technical talks.

Mentoring and Support
Take your career in the direction you desire with the help of Taos. We offer mentoring services from our Senior Technical Consultants who can advise you throughout your assignment. We also provide our consultants with access to our Practice Area online groups where they can ask questions, talk with other consultants in the field, and access templates and best practices.
Lab and Training
In addition to our career development offerings, you can brush up on your current skills or discover something new in our Technical Lab. Sign up for one of our classes or come by in your spare time to check things out. Our classes and the lab are often tied together to ensure a hands on training experience.
Professional Development Reimbursement
Spend up to a $1,000 per calendar year on Taos for books, classes, fees for professional associations and seminars (first year maximum is pro-rated based on total quarters employed).

Time Off
Vacation
Even if you come and go from Taos, your total time with us will accrue from where you left off. Your vacation time will increase with your tenure at Taos.
- Year 1 - 10 Days
- Year 2 - 11 Days
- Year 3 - 12 Days
- Year 4 - 15 Days
After 4 years with Taos you will accrue an additional day per year up to 25 days maximum!
Holiday
You get paid for any holiday your client observes while you are on assignment up to 10 paid holidays a year. Our consultants often receive 8 – 10 holidays per year as a result.
Planning a Trip?
Through our Assist America program we’ve made available to you a global network of professionals who provide a full range of 24-hour emergency services when you are traveling more than 100 miles away from home for either business or pleasure. A few examples include medical consultation by a Western-trained and/or English speaking physician, hospital admission guarantee, legal and lost luggage assistance.

Comprehensive Coverage for Health and Well Being
Get Fit!
Taos contributes 50% of the cost of daily passes to both 24-Hour fitness and Club One, up to 15 passes per month.
Medical and Vision Care
Taos provides health plans through Blue Cross (including both PPO and HMO options) and Kaiser (HMO). The HMO options are currently only available to California employees. Vision coverage is provided by VSP for all participants.
Taos contributes 75% of the premiums for all eligible salaried employees. Taos also contributes 75% of the premiums for an employee's eligible dependents. Your contribution is paid through a pre-tax payroll deduction.
Dental
Our plan has no deductible, no premium contribution and pretty much no restrictions – even cosmetic work counts. We’ll reimburse you and your dependents for up to $1,500 per individual per calendar year, subject to an annual maximum family benefit of $3,000, for dental expenses (first year maximum is pro-rated based on total quarters employed).
Supplemental Disability Insurance
Plan to become pregnant? Or perhaps you play extreme sports on the weekend. In the event of a short-term or long-term disability Taos carries extra insurances to help you. If you become disabled, UNUM Disability Insurance will integrate with other sources of deductible income (i.e. Social Security, State Disability, etc.) to replace 60% of your earnings up to a weekly maximum of $2350, after a 14-day waiting period. For the long-term policy, after 180-day waiting period, UNUM will replace 60% of earnings up to $10,000 per month.
Life Insurance
Taos provides basic group Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance for all eligible employees. The policy payout is 100% of annual earnings up to a maximum of $300,000.

Immediate Tax and Future Retirement Savings Programs
Flex Spending
The Flexible Spending Account (FSA or Cafeteria Plan) offers two components that both allow you to set aside pre-tax dollars for expenses you are already paying for! You may participate in one or both components, depending on what is most appropriate for you and your family.
- Dependent Care - You can set aside up to a $5,000 maximum in a pre-tax account that can be used to pay for the care of eligible dependents, including most Day Care expenses for minor children and Home Care Expenses for elderly parents.
- Medical Expenses - You can set aside up to a $5,000 maximum in a pre-tax account to offset medical and dental expenses not covered by Insurance Plans. Examples would be over the counter medications, co-payments, extra eyeglasses, dental expenses exceeding plan limits, medical equipment rental, etc.
401k
Taos has an excellent 401k program administered by ING, with full online access for managing and monitoring investments. We have a wide variety of funds to choose from and for every three dollars you contribute to your 401k savings, Taos matches one dollar (annual maximum matching contribution $1,000). Employees are 100% vested immediately and there is no waiting period, so you can participate at any time. The plan accepts rollover contributions from former qualified 401(k) plans. |
